faq
Please read through the FAQ entirely before emailing me with a question. It's really important for terms of use and so on and so forth. I cover most things here, but if there's something that's not listed, feel free to contact me with any other questions that you might have.
Can I take your images? I wouldn't put them up if I didn't want people to take them. Please remember (I know it's getting repetitive) that I put a lot of hard work scanning things so large for everyone. It's kind of pointless to put them up in any other gallery. If you'd like to use them for icons/layouts, feel free, that's why they're there?though I'd rather you not put them in another gallery, even with credit. Trust me, there are so few DMC sites out there, that I will find out. So please use respect and courteous when surfing; this isn't just for my site, but for others as well. I'd appreciate it if you'd link me back, if you use something to show people where you got it. That's how we get more hits, you know.
Fanart is a different story. I ask that you contact the artist before taking anything of theirs, that's just common courteous.
Can I take your information? Absolutely not. I wrote everything on this site from scratch, and it's gone through many cycles?and will probably go through more. The information on this site is ever changing. If you'd like to pull concepts and put them in your own words, that's what they're there for, but taking things word-for-word is not okay.
Why Dante? I've always loved Devil May Cry, it was the first game that I bought for my PS2, the first game that I ever reserved, and the first game that I've kept an ample fascination for within the last few years. I was shocked when I realized that no one had made a shrine to Dante, even through the hundreds of Final Fantasy Shrines that I came across. This shrine was my first complete shrine, and honestly, it's the reason that most people come to my site.
My shrine started on pepsitwist, my former web collective that was so graciously hosted by Mar, and moved on to moony ? nu when I bought the domain. It's been growing ever since, and I'm very proud of it. I put a lot of hard work into it.
Where do you get your resources? I pull a lot from eBay, sometimes paying an arm and a leg for things; and also amazonJapan. Cali was the one who bought the first Devil May Cry Graphic Edition and scanned it in for me. Jojo helped me a lot with getting the manga, and Nikki with the soundtrack. The official DMC3 site has some fun things on it as well. The comics can be purchased at any comic book store. I scanned mostly everything myself with a few exceptions. The information comes from all over, mostly from me playing through the games and recording specifics.
Will you update your information regularly? Yes; unlike most Final Fantasy games, Devil May Cry has many additions in many different forms, so I will do my best to keep up with demand and what I can find. There are always gaps and holes, so I do go through things regularly when I find something out.
May we affiliate? The first thing I don't want to sound is pretentious; but I worked hard on this site, and I have my specifications. I ask that your site is in some way related to Devil May Cry, or that it be a shrine to a videogame character, that you have some form of content (preferably something new to offer the fandom), and that you are hosted at a reliable place. I have a reputation to keep. It doesn't have to be anything huge. Yamato isn't large, but it does have something different to offer people, and it is DMC related.
What's "the 99th Floor" mean? Ah, interesting story, actually. What a name for a Dante shrine. The name itself sort of stuck with me, as Dante always seems to be climbing towers and cathedrals?in all three games. Ninety, of course, is the number below one-hundred, always falling short. It reminds me of how someone's always "not all there" in a sort of bad-ass way. It's metaphoric to Dante's personality and past, always missing something?climbing to the point that determination will get to.
Then I realized where I heard the name before. In the spirit of the Chicago (hometown ♥) punk, goth, and industrial community, the name came from a shop on Clark and Belmont. I didn't realize it until I almost had the dedication entirely built. It's in the same vein of Medusa's Circle, the Ally, and Tabou Taboo. They're all great places to go, and if you're in the neighborhood, you should check them out.
What's used in the layout? The picture in the layout is some official art from Devil May Cry 2. I decided that DMC2 Dante doesn't get nearly enough love, and since this shrine went up right before DMC2 came out, I figured that I'd celebrate with him. The texture in the background is from gender, the fonts used are Arial and Century. It's half based off of Call the Ships to Port by Convenant; at least, that's the song that was playing when I made it. I thought "A single spark of passion can change a man forever" really described DMC2 Dante well.
Copyright Of course this site is completely non-for-profit and for personal use only. I claim no ownership of Dante's hot CG abs. Cough. He belongs solely to Capcom, and somewhat to Atlus.
