INFORMATION MEDIA EXTEND XX
not-sparda
Ha ha, I feel like this is more of a rant then an essay with any substance. Usually when I write something, I find the evidence, gather it, and then type up whatever it was that I wanted to type up. There's going to be a little bit of change when I write this. This time, I'm going off of information that doesn't exist to support my claim.
I've seen this around a lot, actually, more then I would have liked to. So I want to clear it up, so I will: Dante's last name is not "Sparda." Given, you can say that he took it after Sparda died, but Dante doesn't even like his father in the third game; why, in the world, would he take his name? Not to mention that this would be a pretty poor descision on his part. Saying that you're "Dante Sparda" would put up a green light for all the demons who want revenge against Sparda.
Later, when he considers himself more powerful and ready to deal that responsibility, I can see it more. However, he never introduces himself as anything else other then "Dante," and even then, it's others that seem to tack on "...Son of Sparda" to the end of his name. His name is just "Dante," and Vergil is just "Vergil." Whether or not someone wants to refer to them as such is fine, but realize that it's not supported by anything in the series. "Dante, Son of Sparda" is probably a little more realistic.
