in defense

I can't say how much Trish-bashing I've seen. Perhaps it's because the end of Devil May Cry gives off the general idea that Trish stayed with Dante as his "sidekick," many others believe that they grew into lovers. Whatever their relationship forms into, it's obvious that at the end of the game, Trish is very much in love with him. Between the shounen-ai fangirls, and the fangirls who want Dante's ass, there's a lot of Trish-hating. Like Aerith and Tifa, their mere presence can send fangirls into a tizzy. Since Aerith, Rinoa and Tifa are generally good people, it's a lot harder to hate them then it is to hate Trish.

Her clothes are tight and revealing, and her attitude is less then desirable. She tricks Dante, manipulates him (he admittedly falls for it), and then ends up winning his affection at the end of everything through one noble act. What's worse, is that Dante actually seems to reciprocate her feelings afterward, making her even more of a threat.

So, uhm, why a mini-shrine to Trish? Yes, she's a bitch, and yes, she does dress like a slut; but goddamn, she kicks a lot of ass. She was made by Mundus for one purpose, but overcomes all of this after she meets Dante. As much of an influence as he has on her, she still breaks away from her Fate and becomes her own person, more importantly, the person that she wishes to become. Not much is known about her, and she seems haphazardly thrown into everything, but she serves a very distinct purpose. And, of course, she kicks a freak load of ass.

So I stand up and say: Yes! I like Trish! And yes! I made a dedication to her!
